Leeds End Chelsea's Unbeaten Run

Leeds United ended a torrid losing run after trashing a visiting Chelsea 3-1 to escape the bottom three of the Premier League table.

Leeds United had won only one of their last nine Premier League games against the Blues, their previous meeting, which ended in a 3-0 defeat at Elland Road in August 2022. Last weekend, they conceded a 3-0 defeat to Manchester City, but they reversed the situation in today's game.

Chelsea conceded the first goal in the sixth minute from Jaka Bijol's header, following a corner, and the second goal followed two minutes before halftime. Bogle latched onto a loose ball, playing in Ao Tanaka, who struck a 20-yard shot to beat Robert Sanchez

After the interval, Pedro Neto pulled one back for Chelsea on a counter. Gitten darted into space inside the area and cut back a pass for Neto to half-volley into the net. Unfortunately for the Blues, a needless backpass error set up Dominic Calvert-Lewin to tap in the third goal for Leeds,

Tanaka's goal was his first in the Premier League for Leeds. The hosts came close to scoring just after Tanaka's as Lukas Nmecha found space for a tap-in, but it was saved by Sanchez.

Overview

Chelsea had a bad day, particularly in defense. Tanaka and Calvert's goal came off defensive errors, and the right back was exploited on the third goal.  Unimpressive of the Blues in this game. The Blues had been unbeaten through four Premier League games.
