Arsenal Edge Past Everton To Secure Narrow Victory
Arsenal ensured a narrow 1-0 win over Everton at Goodison Park, with Viktor Gyökeres scoring the decisive penalty.
Everton lost their previous game against Chelsea. Having to lose against Arsenal set them back from taking the leap to the top seven. The Gunners dominated the game, creating numerous chances but struggling to find the back of the net.
The first half began brightly for Arsenal, with the Gunners creating several chances in the opening 10 minutes. However, it was Everton who had the first real chance of the game in the 13th minute, when they were awarded a corner. Arsenal's pressure finally paid off in the 27th minute, when Gyökeres scored a penalty awarded after a handball by Jake O'Brien. The penalty was Gyökeres' second goal of the season.
Bukayo Saka played a significant role in the attack. He repeatedly attempted shots at the goal but was unable to find the back of the net. Everton's defense was staunch, keeping attackers like Gabriel Jesus and Gabriel Martinelli at bay.
The closest Arsenal got to doubling the tally was when Leandro Trossard hit the right post with a right-footed shot in the 67th minute. Hence, it was not the entertaining showdown often displayed by Arsenal.
