Alejandro Garnacho Leads As Chelsea Beat Cardiff City
Chelsea are through to the EFL Carabao semifinal after winning 3-1 against a hard-fighting Cardiff City, during which Alejandro Garnacho scored twice.
The Swansea side showed the qualities they were made of. They eliminated Burnley in the third round, and against Chelsea, it was goalless until the 57th minute when Garnacho broke the deadlock.
Pedro Neto stole a loose ball from a defender's erroneous pass, latched onto the box, and cut the ball to Garnacho, who finished off the ball into the bottom left corner. Cardiff built up pressure from the right wing, leading up to David Turnbull heading home Perry Ng's cross to restore level terms.
Cheksea regained the lead when Pedro Neto struck from inside the box before Garncho sent the side to victory, latching onto a lob-pass from Joao Pedro and side-footing a shot into the bottom left corner in the injury time.
Cardiff withstood the pressure substantially. They were punished for a moment of defensive flop, but notwithstanding, they did really well against a team such as Chelsea. Though the Blues' lineup was moderate, it was yet formidable enough to take on the League One frontrunners.
