Ryan Yates Shines As Forest Beat Malmo

Nottingham Forest dealt neatly with Malmö, claiming a 3-0 win at City Ground, restoring the side to winning ways in the UEFA Europa League group stages.

The Premier side has been unbeaten in their previous three games in the competition. However, they have now won three consecutive games by the same margins in all competitions. Last weekend, they defeated Liverpool by 3-0; the week after, they beat Leeds United by 3-1.

Forest took the lead midway through the first half. RyanYates received a pass from Nikola Milenkovic inside the box, following a throw, and he struck the ball down the bottom left of the post. The second goal followed on the brink of halftime, as Yates' free header was saved to the reach of Amaud Kalimuendo, who tapped in the loose ball.

Milenkovic got his slice, scoring the winning goal with Yates' involvement. The latter struck a volley from a free header that landed on his path, but the effort was saved for Milenkovic to get his foot on and lash home the box from inside the six-yard box.

Callum Hudson-Odoi came close to making it a fourth, clipping the framework. Earlier, he narrowly missed the net with a curly right-footed shot before Amaud doubled the lead. Yates was a prominent player throughout. He was directly involved in all the goals.

Overview

Forest had the better of the game and also the better of their opponents' 18-yard box. The three goals came off lapses in Malmö's defense. Unbeknownst to the visitors, Forest are good with set pieces, and they made the most of that. That was not to mention that Forest had the most attempts compared to their opponents.
