Manual Akanji Looks Forward To Permanent Contract From Inter Milan

Manuel Akanji has opened up on his interest in remaining at Inter Milan, hoping the club will trigger his release clause to keep him permanently.

Inter are currently in top form, leading the Serie A on equal points (24 points apiece) with the nearest team, AS Roma. Akanji has maintained an impressive form, making the starting lineup for every fixture since he joined the side on loan from Manchester City this summer.

However, for Inter to retain the right-back, they will have to trigger his €15 million buyout clause. Presently, he has a contract with City that runs until 2027, and his loan move to Inter will last until the end of the season.

"I hope so (to join Inter Milan permanently). We'll see what happened this season, then we'll decide what to do with the club," Akanji clarified, speaking to Sportmediaset

Akanji joined City from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 and has played a significant role in the club's recent successes. Despite that, he seemed unwavering in his interest in Milan. He said during the interview: "I'm very happy in Milan."

He made the starting lineup for Switzerland's 1-1 draw against Kosovo in the FIFA World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday. The country, however, will not be participating in the competition, having finished in the bottom of their group.
