Lando Norris Poles For Brazilian GP Sprint Race
It has been a dominant weekend for McLaren, both in the practice session and the Sprint qualifying session, as Lando Norris is on pole for the Brazilian Grand Prix Sprint race at Interlagos.
Norris is optimizing his advantages in Interlagos, with a view to maintaining his stronghold of the F1 Championship title race. Winning the Sprint would extend his lead over his teammate, Oscar Piastri, and his Red Bull rival, Max Verstappen. This is a crucial race for the F1 title contenders.
Having dominated the practice session, Norris continued with his impressive performance at the SQ3. He improved on his second run to take the pole by one hundredth of a second quicker than Kimi Antonelli. Piastri finished in third while Verstappen was sixth.
Lewis Hamilton was unable to make it past SQ2 and his under investigation for racing too quickly under a virtual safety car. His teammate, Charles Leclerc, spun off the track at Turn 10, and oncoming Hamilton refused to slow down at the double-waved yellow flag for a virtual safety car.
