Jannik Sinner Makes Final Appearance Of Nitto ATP Finals
Jannik Sinner has reached the Nitto ATP Finals for the third time in a row, the day after losing the Year-End World No. 1 to his rival, Carlos Alcaraz.
The defending champion was dominant in the semi-final match against Alex de Minaur, whom he defeated in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. He maintained a clean sheet without dropping a set through to the final, where he stands to face Alcaraz.
De Minaur showed resistance earlier in the first set, keeping abreast of the games before Jannik converted a break point advantage at 5-5 and claimed a set point on his service. Jannik quickly established control in the second set, claiming two straight break points for a 4-0 lead and sealing the match point with a forehand shot.
The Italian reached the final of the season-ending ATP Finals for the first time last season. He defeated Taylor Fritz to claim the trophy on his maiden final appearance in Turin.
Jannik shared Bjorn Gorg Group with Alexander Zverev, Ben Shelton, and Feliz Auger-Aliassime. Meanwhile, Alacarz shared Jimmy Connors' group with Novak Djokovic, who won the ATP Athens Open for the 101 major singles titles and pulled out of the season-ending finals.
