Arsenal Maintain Winning Run With Burnley Defeat

 

Arsenal maintained their strong dominance in the Premier League with a clean sheet victory against Burnley by 2-0, further widening their lead by seven points. 

The Gunners' winning run remained unbroken in all competitions. They started better than they did in their previous game against Brighton in the EFL Cup. Burnley had fewer chances compared to their opponents, who had three goal-bound attempts saved. 

Viktor Gyokeres set off the sail with the opening goal, nodding home Gabriel's lob assist into the six-yard box following a Declan Rice's corner. Rice wrapped up the score sheet following a counter break, set off by Gypkeres' cross-pitch cross to Leandro Trossard, whose cross was headed home by the midfielder.  

The defeat was a setback for Burnley, who had been unbeaten in their previous two Premier League games. They are currently trying to make their way out of the relegation zone with their recent victories. Meanwhile, Gyokeres snapped his goal drought after he had gone six games without finding the net. It was his first away goal

Arsenal had a dominant first half as Burnley were pushed back while attempting to find an equalizer. The build-up to the second goal was plausible, neatly opening up space for Trossard to set up Rice for a header. Burnley would have a difficult task undoing Arsenal's two-goal lead after the interval. 

Burnley were unable to undo the deficit as Arsenal maintained its stronghold. Eberechi Eze was prominent in the midfield, enabling the wing and the attacking frontline. Saka lost two chances that could have set the side clear ahead, but credit to Martin Dubravka. Another attempt by Trossard was blocked on the touch line. Otherwise, the margin could have been wider.
