Arsenal Dazzle Bayern Munich In Thrilling Victory At Emirates Stadium

Arsenal maintained its unbeaten run with a dazzling 3-1 victory against Bayern Munich at Emirates Stadium, taking the lead of the Champions League table.

Arsenal’s incredible unbeaten run stretches across all competitions. Earlier, they claimed a dominant 4-1 win against Tottenham in the North London derby on Sunday. The Gunners showcased their outstanding form, winning their opening five UCL games this season, and are the only team to have conceded a single goal. Mikel Arteta has overseen a club record all-match winning streak in the group stage/league phase of this competition, and with his team, has been unbeaten at the Emirates Stadium since May

Bayern briefly came under pressure in front of the box, leading to a corner. Bukayo Saka's cross arrived in the box for Jurrien Timber's header that beat Manul Neuer to the net. Bayern responded, with Serge Gnabry capitalising on an aerial ball to set up Lennart Karl with a lob-pass, which the latter blasted into the net.

Noni Madueke scored the third goal from Calafiori's assist. Gabriel Martinelli put the game to bed with the third, latching onto Eberechi Eze's cross, and he got the ball past the on-rushing goalkeeper before slotting that ball into the empty net.

Until this game, Bayern Munich have won 17 of their 18 competitive games this term. Also, Bayern have been unbeaten in the Champions League away games since their loss to Feyenoord in January. Vincent Kompany’s men recovered from a two-goal deficit to thrash Freiburg 6-2 on Saturday to cement their lead at the Bundesliga summit. They are now third in the Champions League table with 12 points, and Arsenal lead at the top.

Overview

Bayern had a great start, having ball possession, and pressing deep into Arsenal's half. They undermined Arsenal using a set piece to change the direction of the game. The goal came off Arsenal's first corner of the game, and Saka rightly delivered into the six-yard box for Jurrien Timber. By the way, he was involved in the buildup to the pressure that resulted in the corner.

The second goal was a peculiar style of play in the Bundesliga. Arsenal left a gap behind the defense wide enough for an aerial ball to float into. Gnarby met that aerial ball with a pass for Karl to finish off like they would in a league game. Meanwhile, the goal came in just a moment after Arsenal wasted a glaring chance, but Eze did not intend to be selfish. Attempting a shot would have set up a rebound for Saka, who was positioned for that.
