Ruben Kluivert Shines As Lyon Beat RB Salzburg

Lyon secured the second victory in the UEFA Europa League campaign, beating RB Salzburg 2-0 at home, and moved up to fifth in the standings.

Salzburg are now winless in two consecutive games, losing their opening game against FC Porto. They had some chances against the Austrians, particularly Mata's back pass error that nearly landed on Vertessen to tap in.

Satriano opened the scoresheet, latching onto Schlager's poor clearance and guiding a shot home from inside the box. Lyon doubled their tally after the halftime break as Ruben Kluivert nodded home Karabec's cross from the right wing.

Lyon are unbeaten in the two opening games of the competition. They defeated Utrecht by 1-0 in their opening match and are now fifth in the standings with six maximum points.

Overview

Lyon had a field day against RB Salzburg. The French side controlled the pitch even though the Austrians held them off. Schlager made some brilliant saves, but they were not enough to keep the side in the game.

The opening goal came off an error from Schlager, rewarding Lyon for Pavel Sulc's penalty that the goalkeeper saved. However, the second goal was different. Salzburg's defense was loosened enough for Lyon, leaving space for Karabec's cross to arrive rightly for Ruben Kluivert's header inside the six-yard box.
