Rodrygo Opens Up On Future At Real Madrid

"I want more European Cups in this shirt," that was Rodrygo's statement when asked about his future at Real Madrid. The Brazilian star opened up about the rumoured plan to exit the club and join Liverpool last summer.

The rumours began to swell when Luis Diaz left the Reds to join Bayern Munich last summer. Liverpool made a significant shakeup in the squad, and speculations had it that Rodrygo was going to be the replacement for Diaz's exit. Unfortunately, that did not happen.

Getting game time has been a struggle for the winger, who is often brought in as a substitute. Conversely, Kylian Mbappe and Vinicius Jr. get frequent starting lineups, while he is left in the dugout as a replacement.

"Of course, there are always offers; I'm not going to lie about that," he said, speaking to AS. "Buti always made it clear to the club that I want to continue succeeding here, even more than I already have."

Amidst the rumours of his link to Liverpool, the Reds signed Bryan Mbeumo, who is also a winger. The club completed four signings in the transfer window, among which was Hugo Ekitike

Speaking of his relationship with his manager, Xavi Alonso, he revealed that it is cordial because he is always willing to adhere to his instructions, which sometimes can be playing a different role from his preference.

"When the manager arrived, he called me in and talk and said: 'I know you like playing on the left, but I'm going to need you in other positions too.' I told him, 'Okay, manager, I'm here to help the team.'"
