Paris Saint-Germain Humble Barcelona At Home

Paris Saint-Germain stunned their counterparts, Barcelona at the Olympic Stadium, with a 2-1 comeback victory in the UEFA Champions League second group game.

Barcelona's build-up leading to the opening from the midfield before a loose ball fell on Marcus Rashford's path. The English forward slotted a through pass to find  Ferran Torres to blast the ball into the top-left corner of the post.

The second goal came off a flop in Barca's defense, leaving Mendes with a space for a through pass to play in Senny Manyulu, who struck the ball down the bottom right of the post.

With the clock ticking down and extra time looming, Achraf Hakimi burst forward and picked out Gonçalo Ramos in the box. The Portuguese striker, ice in his veins, slotted a precise strike past Szczesny into the bottom corner.

Though the loss was disappointing, Barcelona did its best. Lamine Yamal contributed his finest skill to break the Parisians' resolve. However, the Parisians built up pace and wrestled Control from the opponents before they found the goal-scoring moment.

Wojciech Szczesny, Barcelona’s new goalkeeper, played a crucial role in keeping his side alive with several vital saves. He denied Bradley Barcola from a blank range, tipped away Fabian Ruiz’s long-range effort, and even smothered a Hakimi thunderbolt. Each time, the home fans roared in relief.

Overview

The game was tightly contested in the first half. The scoreline was fair and commensurate with the effort of both sides. Lamine Yamal was sensational with creative passes that nearly proved costly for PSG.. While Barce capitalized on the wings, the French side broke through the centre to find the needed space to level up.

PSG substitutions in the second half were purposeful; Lee Kang-In and Ramos revamped urgency, while Hakimi’s surging runs on the right always carried danger. The visitors struck the post through Kang-In in the 82nd minute, a warning Barcelona failed to heed.
