Max Verstappen Wins US Grand Prix As Lando Norris Finished Second

Max Verstappen is the US Grand Prix winner for the fourth time in Austin, Texas, reducing the gap between him and the McLaren pair, Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri, to 40 points. He is now the first F1 driver to win seven races in the United States (four in Austin, two in Miami, and one in Las Vegas).

It was a dominant race for the pole-sitter, who won the Sprint race on Saturday. He led the final with more than a seven-second gap between him and the rival in second place, Norris, while Charles Leclerc finished third.

Unlike the Sprint race, the final was less hectic from the start. While it was much less of a promising race for Piastri, Norris fought hard against Lecelrc, overtaking the latter twice to finish in second. In the latter stages, Piastri put up a challenge with Lewis Hamilton in a contest for fourth place, but the Ferrari driver kept the pace to finish ahead of McLaren.

Verstappen has maintained his impressive form in his Red Bull, making a resurgence since winning the Italian GP. He had won three out of the four past  Grand Prixs, giving enough points to restore his F1 Championship title quest.

Pit Stop and Tyres

While Red Bull was on the loose with Verstappen in control of the pace, pitting went well for the team. However, for McLaten, it was necessary to pit Norris just after Ferrari pitted Leclerc.

Norris had salvaged the second position from Leclerc, but racing on his old tires would give the advantage to Leclerc, who would be on new tires. Hence, McLaren pitted Norris for new rubbers, and he delivered on those, overtaking Leclerc on Lap 51.
