Matty Cash Extends Contract With Aston Villa

Aston Villa have finalized a new contract with Matty Cash, the day after the defender led the side to a sensational home defeat of Manchester City

Matty extended his contract with Villa for another four years, plus an option for a one-year extension, as weeks of discussions with the club yielded, according to an Italian reporter, Fabrizio Romano. The player's previous contract was set to expire in the summer of 2027.

"Aston Villa is delighted to announce that Matty Cash has signed a new contract with the club," Villa confirmed the new deal in a statement. "The defender has agreed a deal that will keep him at Villa until 2029."

The defender scored the winning goal against City on Sunday. He received a through ball from Emi Buendia following a corner and struck a left-footed shot into the bottom left of the net. The goal was his second of the season after his first against Sunderland in a 1-1 draw.

Matty joined the side in 2020 from Nottingham Forest. He had a successful spell with his previous team, where he was an established right-back with goal-scoring acumen.
