George Russell Wins Maiden Singapore GP Pole As Max Verstappen Trailed

Mercedes' George Russell won his maiden Singapore GP pole position and his second of the season as Max Verstappen and Oscar Piastri trailed him in second and third positions, respectively.

Mercedes had an impressive outing in Azerbaijan, where Russell finished second behind Verstappen while Piastri retired. The latter, who dominated the practice session, fell short in the qualifying session as Russell claimed the front row in Q2 and Q3

The Briton defied the odds of slightly colliding with the wall at Turn 18, leading the qualifying session from his first run in Q3. He improved on his second run to maintain the pole position, setting the quickest times in 1:29.158 seconds.

Verstappen was unable to overtake the Briton in his second run, fell short in the middle sector of his second run. Neither Piastri nor Lando Norris improved in their second run. Ferrari's Lewis Hamilton, who dominated Q1, also failed to improve in his second run.
