Ethan Nwaneri Strikes As Arsenal Knock Brighton Out of Carabao Cup

Arsenal have joined their fellow Premier League peers in progressing to the next round of the EFL Carabao Cup, having defeated Brighton by 2-0 in the fourth round. However, what could Arsenal do without their top players?

Initially, the game was in the hands of the Seagulls as the backbenchers that Arsenal fielded nearly got punished. Nonetheless, they withstood the pressure from the Seagulls, who also had their top striker, Danny Welbeck, in the dugout until the 78th minute. There had to be an adjustment to bring the result as the game remained goalless in the first half.

It paid off for Arsenal that they reinforced the team by making a necessary substitution. The first half was lukewarm for Arsenal, and Brighton appeared to have a great influence on the game. That changed after the interval, leading to the two goals. The team's confidence was restored. Handling the right wing was a huge task for Max Dowman against a side like Brighton, but that was reinforced when Saka replaced him. The same as Declan Rice replacing Adre Harriman in the center.

The rearrangement opened up the game for Arsenal, and Ethan Nwaneri finished the build-up from the combination of passes between Eberechi Eze and Merino. The second goal from Saka wrapped up the mission for the senior boys to fix the lapses in the game. Leandro Trossard almost made it a third, but his effort clipped the framework. The senior boys got the job done. It could not be better than that.
