Erling Haaland Nets Twice As Manchester City Draw Against Monaco

Manchester City forfeited a should-be victory, despite Erling Haaland contributing two goals as AS Monaco came from behind to force a 2-2 draw in the second game of the Champions League

The French side withstood their Premier League counterparts, who dictated the game for a fair period. Haaland contributed his goals in the first half. The Ligue side was responsive to the situation, keeping the scoreline narrow until the closing minutes when they found the comeback goal.

Josko Gvardiol created the break for Haaland with a lob, which the striker latched onto and struck a half volley to beat the goalkeeper. Monaco responded almost immediately. City's defense stood no chance when Diatta darted down the left and played a cut-back to Jordan Teze

Donnarumma stood no chance as Teze converted the advantage for the equalizer. O'Reilly floated a cross into the box, and Haaland leapt well enough to get a glance header that beat Philip Kohn.

With four points in the bag, Manchester City are in the safe zone for a knockout stage ticket. Monaco have remained winless in two consecutive games of the opening stages of the UEFA Champions League.

Overview

Manchester City had the better of the first half, with credit to Erling Haaland's brilliance. Evan, as the first goal resulted from Monaco's defense flop, the second goal came off the sheer brilliance of the Norwegian striker. By and large, City were the better side for the first half.

Monaco's comeback was a real spoiler for the City. They had done well until the free kick that led up to Nico Gonzalez's kick, which caught Eric Dier's face in the contest for an aerial ball. Monaco did press City in the last 10 minutes, and their effort paid off.
