Erling Haaland Nets Brace As Manchester City Thrash Everton

Manchester City return to Premier League action with a momentous 2-0 victory against contender Everton, with Erling Haaland scoring both goals at Etihad Stadium

City can outperform despite a stuttering start to the campaign; Pep Guardiola’s side are slowly looking back to their best after a run of seven matches in all competitions without loss. Their home form has been key to that resurgence, with seven wins in their last eight Premier League games at the Etihad. They scored at least a 2+ goal victory margin in both of the past two. Obviously, they are intimidating in the attack at the moment.

Haaland set the pace in the second half, scoring with a header inside the box following a Nico O'Reilly's cross. The second goal followed after an hour of play, as Savinho played him in inside the box and struck a left-footed shot into the net amidst a crowded box.

Everton have never won a Premier League away game under David Moyes against a side that finished the previous season in the division’s top three. More so, they have been the most fouled team in the Premier League ahead of this round.

Overview

Despite a terrible recent record against Manchester City, Everton lacked the confidence to stand up to their opponents. in the latter part of the game, Everton left the defense loose enough for Haaland. The Norwegian striker had two glaring chances to worsen the goal margin for Everton.
