Cristiano Ronaldo Achieves New Career Milestone
Officially, Cristiano Ronaldo has become the first footballer to become a billionaire following the renewal of his contract with Saudi Arabia Pro League side, Al Nassr.
Ronaldo was previously announced as the highest-paid footballer in 2023, following his move to the club, better paid than his rival Lionel Messi. Having signed a new two-year contract with Al Nassr, Bloomberg confirmed the Portuguese striker's net worth to be $1.4 billion (£1.04b).
His new two-year contract with Al Nassr is reportedly worth $400 million (£298.5m). He commenced his career in 2002, and between then and 2023, he was estimated to have earned $500 million. Adding his endorsement deals to his earnings puts him in the billionaire status
The Portuguese player has a long-term contract with Nike, which is valued at $18 million. Armani and Castrol are also among the endorsement deals in his portfolio, with both valued at $175m. Adding his earnings together ranks him among billionaire athletes such as Michael Jordan and Tiger Woods.
Ronaldo, 40, is a five-time Ballon d'Or winner. He has played for high-profile European clubs like Manchester United, Real Madrid, and Juventus. In his career, he has won a total of 34 trophies, including the Premier League (3), La Liga (2), Italian Serie A (2), and the UEFA Champions League (5).
