Chemsdine Talbi's Injury Time Goal Secures Sunderland Comeback Victory Against Chelsea

Sunderland delivered an intriguing performance at Stamford Bridge, defeating Chelsea by a 2-1 comeback and ending the hosts' four-game winning run in all competitions.

Chelsea were poised for a home victory, and better still, a draw at home, pressing deep into their opponents' half until the injury. Sunderland have been impressive this season, despite being a newly promoted side. They are familiar with playing in the Premier League, and the approach to the game proved it.

Andres Garnacho put Chelsea ahead in the fourth minute. The winger received Neto's through ball from the center and latched onto the box, releasing a left-footed shot from the edge of the six-yard box. Sunderland regained level terms with Wilson Isidor's half-volley from the edge of the 18-yard box before the interval.

While Chelsea pressed deeper into Sunderland's half following substitutions to buffer the frontline, Brobbey received a cross-pitch lob and darted to the box and released a pass to Chemsdine Talbi, who struck home the ball for the winner.

Chelsea were at their sparkling best against Ajax on Wednesday, taking full advantage of an early red card to run out 5-1 winners in a game. The situation was different with Sunderland, who have moved up the table to second behind Arsenal.

Overview

Sunderland's defensive approach paid off after sharing the first half with Chelsea. Reinforcing the Blues' frontline did not break their opponents' resolve, and Garnacho's weak pass was unable to set off a chance that could have set off a goalscoring moment just after the interval.

Maresca replaced all the frontline players to bolster his offensive approach, but Sunderland's counters eventually culminated in the winning goal. Chelsea tried to exploit the right wing with Estavao, but he and Neto met strong resistance.
