Barcelona Thrash 10-Man Olympiakos As López and Rashford's Brace Power Catalans to Victory

Barcelona produced a blistering attacking display at Camp Nou, dismantling Olympiakos 6–1 in a one-sided UEFA Champions League encounter, with Fermin Lopez and Marcus Rashford making huge contributions.

Midfielder Fermín López starred with a sensational hat-trick, while Marcus Rashford and Lamine Yamal also found the net in a dominant performance that leaves the Catalans firmly in control of their group.

The match opened at a frenetic pace under the Camp Nou lights, with Olympiakos showing early intent. In just the 5th minute, Potente’s fierce drive forced Wojciech Szczesny into a crucial save, a warning that briefly unsettled the hosts. In the 7th minute, López combined brilliantly with Yamal before slotting home to open the scoring.

Olympiakos refused to retreat, pressing high and threatening through quick transitions. However, their resistance faltered before the interval when López capitalized on a defensive lapse to double Barcelona’s lead in the 39th minute.

Olympiakos thought they had pulled one back in the 53rd minute when Ayoub El Kaabi scored from close range, but after a lengthy VAR review, the goal was disallowed for handball. Moments later, the referee awarded the visitors a penalty for an earlier infringement, which El Kaabi calmly converted to make it 2–1.

Lamine Yamal restored Barcelona’s two-goal cushion from the penalty spot, drawn from the goalkeeper dropping Rashford inside the six-yard box, effectively ending Olympiakos’ hopes. The England striker added a fourth in the fourth, rifling home a shot from the edge of the box, and scored the fifth five minutes later.

López completed his memorable hat-trick shortly after, capping a career-defining night for the young midfielder. By the 87th minute, Barcelona had slowed the tempo, content to enjoy their dominance as chants echoed across Camp Nou.

It was Barcelona's second biggest victory this season after their first against Valencia in a La Liga 6-0 victory. The Catalans restored their winning form after losing their previous encounter against Paris Saint-Germain

Overview

It was a terrible game for Olympiakos. Santiago Hezze was careless for his second yellow card offense, which mounted pressure on the side until Tzolakis drew a penalty for his dive on Rashford. The goalkeeper's contest for the ball could have been avoided, but the momentum in his dive got him in trouble with the referee.

Barcelona had been in control from the first half, and Olympiakos did not make it better for themselves after getting a lifeline from Ayoub El Kaabi's penalty. Rashford scoring a brace within five minutes further demoralized the Greek side.
