US Open: Carlos Alcaraz v Novak Djokovic Semi-final Showdown, Another Tennis Blockbuster

Carlos Alcaraz is in another blockbuster semi-final round against Novak Djokovic as both players will slug it out at Arthur Arne Stadium for a US Open final appearance. The feat could either be his second final appearance for Alcaraz or a career milestone for Djokovic. 

Djokovic has been out of the Tour since Wimbledon and has maintained an impressive performance of not playing longer than four sets in every round in this tournament. On the other hand, Alcaraz has not dropped a set in every round so far. 

En route to this stage, Djokovic has eliminated three American tennis players, including Taylor Fritz, from the quarter-finals. Taylor battled the former US champion through four sets before double-faulting to lose a match point to the seventh seed. 

However, Alacarz maintained his fierce outlook, beating Jiri Lehecka in three sets. He remained unbeaten since winning the Cincinnati  Masters in every set, improving 26-in-28 in set victories. 

How Alcaraz v Djokovic Fared In Every Grand Slam This Season

As for Djokovic and Alcaraz, having you meet in the penultimate round of the US Open is tense for both players. Alcaraz is on a revenge mission for his Wimbledon semi-final defeat to Djokovic, who, on the eve of the end of his tennis era, is hoping to top up his career title streak with a trophy from the championship. 

Having won the French Open for his only Grand Slam trophy, Alcaraz has participated in two Grand Slam semi-finals this season. He was eliminated in the quarter-finals of the Australian Open by Djokovic, who, in turn, eliminated him from Wimbledon in the semi-finals. Djokovic appeared to have an upper hand against the Spaniard in a major event this season. 

Even though Djokovic has not won a Grand Slam since 2023, he has reached the semi-finals of all three previous Grand Slams, losing to Jannik Sinner on each occasion. Earlier in this tour, Djokovic stated in a press conference that he "dreams of winning another Grand Slam" and hopes to achieve that in the US Open. 

Alcaraz won the US Open title in 2022. Since then, that has been the farthest he has reached in the tournament. Meanwhile, Djokovic is a four-time champion and has reached 10 US Open finals - the highest in men's tennis.
