Jannik Sinner Dominates Aleander Bubblik To Reach US Open Quarter-final
Jannik Sinner is into his second consecutive US Open quarter-final, defeating Alexander Bublik in straight sets, 6-1, 6-1, 6-1.
The US defending champion emphatically dominated the round, winning the match point as Bublik double-faulted. The Kazakh player was unable to capitalise on his only break advantage. Bubbling was overwhelmed, winning just three games in a match that lasted for one hour and 21 minutes.
"He didn't serve as good as he really serves, so I broke him very early in every set, which then gave me the confidence to serve a little bit better," Jannik recalled.
Meanwhile, Jannik had a challenging third round as he dropped a set to Denis Shapovalov before rallying to win in four sets. Nonetheless, it was the third set the Italian would lose at Arthur Arne Stadium since winning his maiden US Open in 2024.
Already, Jannik has won two of the three Grand Slam tournaments he has participated in this season - the Australian Open and Wimbledon.
