Harry Kane Shines As Bayern Munich Beat Werder Bremen

Harry Kane led the way as Bayern Munich thrashed Werder Bremen 4-0 at home and maintained their unbeaten run in the Bundesliga

The hosts dominated much of the game and resisted a resurgence from Bremen in the second half by adding more goals to the scoresheet. Harry Kane contributed two goals to the scoreline, including a penalty.

Michael Olise inspired the build-up to the opening goal. The winger started down the wing and played in Jonathan Tah, whose back-heel flick ricocheted off Luis Diaz and bounced into the net. Harry Kane added the second goal before halftime, scoring from a penalty drawn against Marco Friedl

Bremen pretended to be fired up in the second half, making an effort to break Bayern's resolve. Instead, the hosts extended the lead as Luis Diaz darted into the box and struck the ball into Kane, who slid to tap in the ball from inside the six-yard box. Bayern wrapped it up with the fourth goal in the 87th minute. Konrad Laimer received a pass from Tom Bischof inside the area and struck the ball through to beat Karl Kein to the goal.

Bayern consolidate their leading position in the Bundesliga. They now lead the nearest team, Borussia Dortmund, by five points. Harry Kane has now scored at least two goals in the previous three games in the Bundesliga.

Overview

Bremen struggled to contain Bayern Munich throughout the first half. The visitors' midfield came under the onslaught of their hosts as Michael Olise powered the side through from the right wing and paved the way to the opening goal.

Bremen's only threatening moment was on the edge of the half-time, when Yukinari Sugawara attempted a curly shot inside the box but was blocked by Jonathan Tah. Besides that, Bremen spent much of the time holding off Bayern, and making the situation worse, Marco Friedl drew a penalty, leading to Harry Kane's goal.

Bremen were offensive coming into the second half. They were fired up and tidied up in the midfield, giving Bayern the need to fence them off. However, that was not without Yukinari Sugawara forcing a save from Karl Hein. There was not much difference Victor Boniface could make, coming in as a substitute. Bayern's defense was compact enough to keep Bremen out, maintaining the clean sheet victory to the final whistle
