Carlos Alcaraz Wins US Open For Second Time

Carlos Alcaraz wins the US Open for the first time in 2022

Carlos Alcaraz is the champion of the US Open for the second time after he defeated Jannik Sinner in a dominated final in four sets, 6-2, 3-6, 6-1, 6-4 at Arthur Arne Stadium

The Spaniard won the trophy for the second time after his first in 2022, and his second consecutive major men's singles victory against Jannik. Jannik walked over their last meeting in the Cincinnati Masters due to an injury scare. Still, he was unable to defend the US Open against Alcaraz.

Alcaraz quickly established his control on the first set, breaking to take a two-games-to-love lead. While Jannik gradually built up resistance, the Spaniard broke again and sealed the set point on Jannik's unforced error.

The second set saw a resurgence from Jannik, but that would not last beyond the set, as Alcaraz's domineering displayed continued through the third and fourth sets, winning the championship point on his serve.

Jannik gave his best to stay in the match, but Alcaraz was unmatched. He broke only once, and that was in the second set, compared to the champion, who had 11 break advantages, winning five. The two-time champion clearly had the upper hand.

Until the final, Alcaraz was unbeaten through every match. In the semi-final, he eliminated four-time champion Novak Djokovic in straight sets. Earlier in the season, he defeated Jannik back-to-back at the Italian Open and the French Open. Alcaraz is, without a doubt, in incredible form.

Having won the trophy, Alcaraz has participated in six consecutive major tour finals, losing only at Wimbledon, during which he was defeated by Jannik. However, the Italian faced a much different version of the Spaniard in the US Open final
