Son Heung-min Wants Out of Tottenham, Sets For MLS
Son Heung-min has declared his readiness to leave Tottenham after a long spell, which he has concluded by leading the club to win the UEFA Europa League last season.
The Spurs' captain announced his exit from the club in a press conference ahead of their pre-season match against Newcastle in his home country, South Korea. He has been linked to Los Angeles FC. The MLS side is not alone in the race, as there are speculations of links to the Saudi Arabia Pro League..
"It was the most difficult decision I have made in my career," he said at the conference. "I came to North London as a Kid. A boy who couldn't speak English. I leave this club as a grown man, a very proud man."
Son won his first and only major trophy with Tottenham, leading the club to beat Manchester United in the final of the UEFA Europa League. The trophy was the Spurs' first major title since 2008. As a consequence, Tottenham will participate in the UEFA Champions League next season.
During his 10-year-long spell, he appeared in 333 Premier League games, scoring 127 goals. He missed out on winning his first and only Premier League with the Spurs in 2016/17 when they finished as runners-up behind Chelsea under Mauricio Pochettino.
