Liverpool Deal Early Snap To Arsenal's Winning Run
Liverpool claimed a hard-fought 1-0 victory against Arsenal, bringing an early end to the Gunners' winning run to the start of the Premier League season.
Matchday three saw the Premier League defending champions, Liverpool, hosting the runners-up from the previous season, Arsenal, as both sides put their perfect start to this campaign on the line with victory at Anfield.
Arsenal lost the game after a long resolve to maintain the deadlock, as Szoboszlai curled a sensational free-kick into the top corner, and Liverpool secured the winning goal.
Until today's game, Liverpool had failed to beat Arsenal in each of their last six Premier League games and had not lost a top-flight game against the Gunners at Anfield since September 2012. Still, the Reds are counting, with another away victory against the Gunners as Dominik Szoboszlai seized a set piece to lead the side to win.
Overview
It was a tough game for both sides. Liverpool found more spaces for the offense than Arsenal did. Nino Madweke made efforts from the right wing to break the Reds' resolve, but could not connect the dots. However, the Gunners were on the lookout to prevent a surprise breakthrough from the hosts.
Giving away a free-kick in front of the goal proved too costly for Arsenal, and Szoboszlai rightly pulled off a goal from the set piece. Eberechi Eze made his debut as a substitute and tried to fire up the team, but the Reds remained resolute. Just as Huge Etikite was almost invincible throughout, Arsenal's Viktor Gyokeres struggled to break through the Reds' defense line.
