Fulham, Manchester United Share Spoils At Craven Cottage

Manchester United continued on a winless run, playing a 1-1 draw at Fulham in their second Premier League game.

It was a dramatic afternoon at Craven Cottage by the Thames, as United battled to a high-octane 1-1 draw in a match filled with controversies, missed chances, and a relentless tempo that never let up. Unfortunately for United, they will have to seek their first game victory another day.

It was a dramatic afternoon at Craven Cottage by the Thames, as United battled to a high-octane 1-1 draw in a match filled with controversies, missed chances, and a relentless tempo that never let up.

Meanwhile, the game sprang to life immediately. Within the first minute, Manchester United's Matheus Cunha rattled the post after a brilliant breakaway, narrowly missing the opener. Just moments later, the Brazilian again tested Fulham keeper Bernd Leno, whose gloves would be kept busy all afternoon.

After Bruno Fernandes blazing a penalty over the bar, United found the lead from Rodrigo Muniz's own goal, following his header.  Emile Smith Rowe came to the rescue of the hosts with the equalizer late into the game.

Alex Iwobi's sensational lob set of the moment for Smith, who was unmarked in front of the goal, and the ball arrived into his path for a dunk into the net.

United have remained winless in two consecutive Premier League games against Fulham. Fulham drew on opening matchday against Brighton.

Overview

United had an impressive start to the game, but waned as the game progressed. Bruno Fernandes' penalty would have set them on the path to victory. However, they managed to put that behind them and scored the lead goal.

United had issues with the midfield, the lapses of which led to the equaliser from their hosts. Iwobi was inspirational to Fulham's attacking forward and coordinated the frontline, which United lacked, particularly in the latter stages.

For Manchester United, Ruben Amorim will be disappointed in Fernandez for not capitalising on a first-half penalty until the fortunate own goal set the sides apart. With tough fixtures ahead, losing crucial points at this stage could prove costly.

Coming off the bench to score the crucial equaliser, Smith Rowe not only brought Fulham back into the match but changed the tempo entirely. His energy, positioning, and calm finish showed why he may be vital for Silva's plans this season. Plausible comeback from Fulham and a performance that mixed resilience with flashes of quality.
