Arsenal Advance Transfer Deal Talks With Eberechi Eze, Amidst Tottenham's Pursuit

Eberechi Eze is set to leave Crystal Palace, even after making the season's opening matchday appearances, as Arsenal have advanced deal talks to secure an agreement with the player.

The attacking midfielder made the starting lineup for Palace in the side's goalless draw against Chelsea on Saturday. He scored the only goal of the game from a free-kick, but it was ruled out for an Infringement on an opponent.

Arsenal are understood to be considering £60 million plus add-ons of £8 million in fees for the player, amidst Tottenham's pursuit of his transfer. On the other hand, the Spurs are reportedly considering a deal offer of £55 million, which is a few million less than what Arsenal have in their transfer package. Interestingly, Eze prefers an Arsenal move to that of Tottenham's.

Tottenham showed interest in Palace's forward before Arsenal joined the race. The Spurs are ready to swap Richardlison to secure Eze's transfer, but as the player favours an Arsenal move, that rules Spurs out of the race. In a separate development, the Spurs are also linked to Manchester City's winger Savinho, for whom Pep Guardiola has clarified that he desires to keep. However, the Spanish manager maintained that it still depends on the player's desire to stay at Etihad..

Arsenal won their opening matchday game against Manchester United by 1-0. The Gunners were defensive for much of the time and managed only a few shots on target, compared to their opponents. Havertz's injury scare brought the need for Eze into perspective.
