Wimbledon: Novak Djokovic Knocks Out Dan Evans In Second Round Face-off
Novak Djokovic advanced on his course to extending his Wimbledon title streak by defeating Dan Evans in the second round in three sets, 6-3, 6-2. 6-0.
The seven-time champion neatly dominated the match to rout the British player. he had a hard-fought opening round against Alexandre Muller, battling through an epic four-set to win. However, Djokovic saved two break-point advantages that the Briton had, serving 46 winners and converting six break-point advantages.
Initially, Evans was resilient in the opener, rallying to hold the Serbian to a deuce in the seventh game. Eventually, Djokovic converted the break-point for a 5-3 lead and claimed the set. Djokovic is the all-time highest trophy winner at the tournament, having a total of 24 Grand Slam titles. He won his 100th career ATP Tour-level title at the Geneva Open and is now contending to extend that streak by one additional title.
