Jannik Sinner Sets Up Maiden Wimbledo Final Against Carlos Alcaraz

Jannik Sinner will be making his Wimbledon final debut, setting up a showdown with his Spaniard rival and the defending champion, Carlos Alcaraz, on Sunday.

The world number one defeated a former champion, Novak Djokovic, in straight sets by 6-3, 6-3. 6-4 in the semi-final. It was the Italian player's first time defeating the sixth-seeded player on Centre Court, denying the seven-time champion an appearance in the final.

Djokovic reached the finals of the last two editions but was defeated by Alcaraz. Likewise, Jannik had met the Serb opponent at the Championship in his previous semi-final appearance, which he lost back in 2023. However, the match was their second head-to-head meeting on Centre Court.

"I would be sad (if it was my last), but hopefully it's not my last match on Centre Court," said Djokovic, hinting at his retirement. "I'm planning to come back, definitely at least one more time."

Jannik dominated the match from the first set, breaking at 5-3 to claim the set point, and extended his control in the second set to lead by two sets to love, 2-0. To win, he rallied from 0-3 as Djokovic showed resilience, winning five straight games to lead by 5-3 before claiming the match point on his serve.

In a separate match, Alcaraz reached his third consecutive final after defeating Taylor Fritz in four sets by 6-4. 5-7, 6-3, 7-6(6).  The two-time champion won the last two editions, with back-to-back defeats of Djokovic. He has established himself as the youngest player to win the trophy and even back-to-back.
