British Grand Prix: Lando Norris Wins Maiden Race At Silverstone As Nico Hulkenberg Makes First F1 Podium Finish

Lando Norris clinched his maiden victory at Silverstone, despite starting in P3, and claimed his fourth race win in a one-two podium finish for McLaren.
Norris finished quickest in 1:37:15.735s after Oscar Piastri was served a 10-second penalty for obstructing a virtual safety car. Nico Hulkenberg made a podium finish in third for Kick Sauber and his first F1 podium position in 239 starts. Max Verstappen battled with weather conditions for much of the laps. He finished in P5, despite the conditions.
Pole-sitter, Verstappen lost the position to Piastri, who led the race from lap 8 as the McLaren driver overtook him down the straight and moved to first. The Red Bull later dropped to third after spinning off the track, allowing Norris to move to second. Meanwhile, it was a chaotic start following a safety car deployment after Liam Lawson DNF after colliding with Nico Colapinto.
Lewis Hamilton put up a good fight throughout, improving from behind to finish in fourth. Hamilton trailed as the tracks became wetter in a heavy downpour. He battled up the ranks, speeding past George Russell, who struggled with his tyres on the surface for much of the laps. Hamilton secured the front row finish midway through the race, overtaking Lance Stroll exiting the corner on Lap 35.
Weather and visibility
Since the weather was wet, visibility was terrible. George Russell was one of the drivers. who struggled with this condition, and likewise, the surface. The Mercedes driver gave the race a fight, yet he struggled with grip and dropped behind to finish in P10.
Charles Leclerc was another affected by the condition. He raced over the curb and into the race, dropping to 14th on lap 44. Unlike Hamilton, he had a difficult time this weekend at Silverstone.
Pit Stop and Tyre Dilemma
The weather was unfavourable, and the surface was slippery following a downpour. The choice of tyres played a significant role in the performance. Red Bull was impacted by running on slick tyres, and Verstappen struggled with having a good grip.
Meanwhile, McLaren's choice of hard to intermediate in the earlier stages paid out, particularly for Piastri, but he forfeited it after being served a penalty. Hamilton's choice of soft tyres in the latter stages paid off; however, it did not for Leclerc.
