Taylor Fritz Wins Lexus Eastbourne Open For Fourth Time

 


Taylor Fritz is the Lexus Eastbourne Open champion for the fourth time, after defeating his countryman, Jenson Brooksby by 7-5, 6-1 in the final. 

Brooksby lost his grip on the match as Fritz established control in the second set. The world number five break for the fourth time at 4/1 before claiming the championship point. The final was both player's third head-to-head encounter, of which Fritz leads by 2:1. 

Fritz defended the title for second consecutive time for his second trophy this season after his first in Stuttgart. He won his first title at the competition in 2019 and his ATP Tour-level maiden title. 

"This year it's been different," recalled the 2024 US Open finalist. "I e had to fight through my matches. I feel like I e Real upped my level." 

Fritz will be participating at Wimbledon, which begins on June 30. He will play against Giovanni Perricard in the first round. Last year, he was eliminated in the third round by Alejandro Tabilo.
