Aston Martin Confirms Lance Stroll's Return From Injury For Canadian Grand Prix

Ahead of the Canadian Grand Prix this weekend, Aston Martin has confirmed that home favourite Lance Stroll will return to action following his withdrawal from the final of the previous race due to an injury.

Stroll complained about pains in his hand and wrist after completing the Spanish Grand Prix qualifying session in 14th. He pulled out afterwards due to the injury, but he could not be replaced in the final since he completed the qualifying session.

In a statement released by the racing team, Stroll confirmed his well-being and readiness for the weekend, with the determination to "fight hard to race in front of the Montreal crowd" on Sunday. The injury is believed to be related to a previous procedure done to that part of his body in previous seasons.

"I am excited to be back behind the wheel with the team for my home Grand Prix this weekend," said Stroll in the statement released via the team's social media account.

"I was always going to fight hard to race in front of the Montreal crowd. I'm feeling good after my procedure and put some laps in at Paul Ricard this week to prepare. Thanks."

The previous Grand Prix in Spain was dominated by the McLaren duo, Oscar Piastri and Lando Norris, resulting in a one-two podium finish. However, Max Verstappen bagged a penalty for colliding with George Russell following the deployment of a safety car. In effect, Stroll's teammate, Fernando Alonso, who originally finished in P9, moved one place forward to P9, while Verstappen dropped to P10. The Spaniard earned his first F1 points of the season from the race.

Stroll stands in 12th place in the driver's ranking for this season with 14 points. His best outing this season was in Melbourne, Australia, where he finished in 6th for his first top-10 appearance.
