Alexander Bublik Defeats Daniil Medvedev To Reclaim Halle Trophy

Alexander Bublik completed his sensational form by defeating Daniil Medvedev in straight sets 6-3, 7-6(4) in the final to clinch his second Terra Wortmann Open title.
Medvedev was contending for his first ATP Tour-level title since the 2023 Italy Open. He defeated Alexander Zverev in an epic three-set semi-final. However, Bublik was a tough opponent for him, and the Kazakhstani recaptured the Halle trophy he last won in 2023.
"I have never beaten Daniil," Bublik recalled. "He's a super tough player to play, especially with my game style, and today, everything clicked in mentally and physically."
Bublik's form was incredible in the final; he won 79 per cent of the points on his first serve and saved the two break-point advantages Medvedev had. En route to the final, he defeated the world number one, Jannik Sinner, in the second round and eliminated Russian veteran Karen Khachanov in the semi-finals.
The two-time champion extended his ATP Tour-level title tally to five after his most recent one in the Challenger Turin in May. He participated in the French Open, where he reached the quarter-final for the first time in Roland Garros; he was defeated by Sinner in three sets.
The Kazakhstani hinted at participating in the upcoming Wimbledon and that he might take a break from the sport following his struggle with his fitness.
"I had some tough months since last Wimbledon to probably this summer," Biblik revealed. "I promised my coach that I would stay there and keep practising, and after Wimbledon, we will make a decision about whether I need to take a couple of months off before trying to come back."
