Renowned Actor States Reason For Turning Down Role In Biopic of Music Legend

For most people, probably not, Terrence Howard is not an unfamiliar face, following many films he had starred in. He also made cameos in music videos, particularly Mary J. Blige's Be Without You. While he appears to be an actor who can switch between roles, he is not, and he even turned down Marvin Gaye's biopic for a role unacceptable to him.

Terrence recalled when he was approached with Marvin Gaye's biopic, but passed it on because he would not give his all to the film. Given the reason while speaking on a podcast, Bill Maher's Club Random, he found out that the singer was gay. That was the red flag for him.

According to him, the film director, Lee Daniels, discussed starring in Marvin's biopic with him after he had passed on a role in the Smokey Robinson biopic. Though Lee regarded him as someone just right for the role, he later found out that the singer was gay. As a consequence, he withdrew his interest.

"They would've wanted me to do that, and I wouldn't have been able to do that," he told the host. "That would f**k me. I would cut my lips off. If I kissed some man. I would cut my lips off."

Terrence regarded his decision as his "biggest mistake," which has taken its toll on his acting career. However, his intention was to be as authentic as he could be, rather than the sexual orientation he was to portray.

The actor has also been famous for another reason, far from his acting acumen. He recently argued against some mathematical principles, particularly the laws of conservation of energy. There has been backlash on his submission, but he maintains he is right on his findings.
