Novak Djokovic Lifts 100th Tour-Level Title In Geneva Open
Novak Djokovic came out victorious in a hard-fought Geneva Open final against Hubert Hurkacz to lift his 100th ATP men's singles title. He is the third player to reach the milestone of a century career title after Roger Federer and Jimmy Connors in tennis history.
Hubert was in his best form and battled through two tiebreaks after winning the opening set. However, Djokovic rallied in the second set and took it to the distance. He won in three sets by 5-7, 7-6(2), 7-6(2).
"I know it leaves a bitter taste in the mouth to lose the match like this," Djokovic complimented his opponent's resilience. "I fought, but I want to give you huge credit for playing some amazing tennis this week."
Djokovic broke his men's singles title drought, which had lasted since the 2023 Nitto ATP Finals. Hubert had not beaten him in seven previous meetings. He gave the final an impressive showdown but committed multiple forehand errors in the third-set tiebreak, and he was defeated.
Until now, the farthest he had gone in any tournament this season was the semi-finals in Melbourne. He was eliminated in the early stages of the Monte Carlo Masters and missed the Italian Open. However, he is set to participate in the French Open on Monday.
