Manchester City Finished Season In Front Row After Fulham Defeat

Manchester City finished the season on a high note, securing a place in the top four for UEFA Champions League qualification after defeating Fulham 2-0 to end the campaign.

Fulham's hopes of qualifying for Europe are over for this season following Manchester City’s back-to-back victories. That comes despite breaking their all-time Premier League points tally for a single campaign after beating London rivals Brentford last weekend.

Ilkay Gündoğan was spectacular throughout. He scored the opening goal and created the second by drawing a penalty, attempting to round a defender in the box. Improving an acrobatic finish, Gundogan with an overhead kick, finished off Matheus Nunez's lob from the right flank of the box.

City broke into the Cottagers' box through the centre, and as Gundogan made a turn on the ball, Lukic dropped, and a penalty was awarded. Erling Haaland converted the spot-kick for City's second goal.

Fulham’s last Premier League victory against City was in April 2009 when Roy Hodgson was in charge. The current boss, Marco Silva, could not end the winless run against a Pep Guardiola-managed side for the first time in his career.

Manchester City closed the season without lifting any silverware. However, they maintained an unbeaten run through 10 previous games. They finished in third behind Arsenal (2nd) and Liverpool (1st).
