Geneva Open: Novak Djokovic Sets Up Semi-final Showdown Against British Player, Cameron Norrie
Just after the week after missing out on the Italian Open, Novak Djokovic is edging closer to winning his first title of the season and his first since the Paris Open in Geneva. He has now reached the semi-finals of the tournament.
Djokovic defeated Matteo Arnaldi by 6-4, 6-4 in the quarterfinals. The Serb got his revenge on the opponent, who eliminated him from the Madrid Open in April. It was a tough round, and Matteo nearly upset Djokovic in the second set, leading by 1-4 before he rallied to win five straight games, and he won the match.
"It's great to be in the semi-finals again," said Djokovic. "Last year, I played in the semi-finals, hopefully this year I can go at least a step further. That's the goal."
Djokovic set up a semifinal match against British player Cameron Norrie. However, beating the Broton would mean he is a match away from clinching his 100th ATP singles title - a milestone only reached by Jimmy Connor (109) and Roger Federer (103).
