Cameron Norrie Lost Out In Geneva Open Semifinal To Novak Djokovic

British tennis veteran Cameron Norrie was knocked out of the Geneva Open in the semi-finals by a hard-fighting opponent, Novak Djokovic, ending his bid for his first ATP title since Rio de Janeiro in 2023.

Norrie gave the match his best shot, attempting to cause an upset, but Djokovic outlasted him in three sets, 6-4, 6-7(6), 6-1. Though the victory further enhances the Serbs' quest to reach a 100th ATP singles title milestone, Norrie was the only British player at this level in this tournament.

"It was the toughest match of the tournament for me," Djokovic confessed. "Three sets, second set he was a break-up, and I managed to come back to the tiebreak. Match point, I got a bit tight there and missed a couple of mid-court shots."

Norrie claimed his only break point in the second set, taking a 1-3 lead before the former world number one rallied to force a tiebreak. The British player was at his best through the tie until the decider, which Djokovic dictated conveniently.

Besides Jimmy Connor (109) and Roger Federer (103), no other player has reached the milestone of 100 ATP male singles titles. In the final, Djokovic will face Hubert Hurkacz, who defeated Sebastian Ofner in straight sets, 6-3 6-4.
