Arsenal Fall To Bournemouth In Thrilling Comeback

Dean Huijsen scores the equaliser as Bournemouth thrash Arsenal in a comeback at Emirates Stadium

Arsenal conceded a disappointing 2-1 defeat against Bournemouth at the Emirates Stadium, leaving room for their closest rivals, Manchester City, to close the gap with them in second position.

Arsenal was in control during the first half, with Rice's goal highlighting their attacking strength. The midfielder's right-footed shot from the right side of the box was set up beautifully by Martin Odegaard's clever through ball.

Bournemouth's determination paid off when Dean Huijsen headed the ball into the net in the 66th minute. The Cherries kept pushing forward, and their persistence was rewarded when Evanilson found the back of the net from close range in the 74th minute.

Arsenal remain winless through three games in all competitions. On Tuesday, they lost to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League semifinal first-leg tie, casting shadows over their chance of reaching the final for the first time since 2004/05.

Overview

Arsenal let the game slide, even though they had control. They tried fixing the flops by substituting with Raheem Sterling and Ethan Nwaneri, but that did not pay off with the Cherries, who strongly defended their half.

Bournemouth maintained their composure while trailing and found goals from set pieces. In both instances of the goals, Arsenal could not have done better. Bournemouth just did better and seized the opportunities they had from set pieces.
