Inter Milan Knockout Bayern Munich To Reach UCL Semifinal
Inter Milan secured entry to the UEFA Champions League semi-finals with a first-leg edge over Bayern after sharing the spoils by 2-2 at San Siro Stadium.
After a 2-2 draw, it was an advantage for Inter Milan as they led Bayern Munich 2-1 from the first leg of this UEFA Champions League (UCL) quarter-final. The Italians played on their guard to prevent Bayern from returning the favour from the first leg, which they lost.
Harry Kane struck a long-range shot to set Bayern ahead, and Lautaro Martinez leveled the scores five minutes later. Benjamin Pavard added the second goal for Inter with a header following a corner. Bayern regained level terms when Eric Dier nodded home Oliseh's cross from a corner.
The Serie A leaders were in formidable form. They have not lost a competitive fixture since mid-February, with their most recent victory being 3-1 against Cagliari over the weekend.
Overview
Bayern desperately contended to secure the victory against the Italians. They tried to make a comeback, particularly in the stoppages, where Muller's header inside the six-yard box was saved. Coman was spectacular coming on in the stoppages. Besides setting up Muller with a cross, his volley narrowly missed the crossbar.
The Germans had the upper hand in the first half. Though goalless, they dictated the pace and caused scares with Oliseh, Muller, and Kimmich making efforts. Inter kept their opponents at bay until after the halftime break, when they surged ahead.
