Alexi Iwobi Shines As Fulham Snapped Liverpool's Unbeaten Run

Alex Iwobi celebrates with his teammates as Fulham beat Liverpool. He scored and assisted with Rodrigo Muniz's goal

Liverpool endured their second defeat of the season, ending their unbeaten run at Craven Cottage in a 3-2 defeat to Fulham. The loss had no adverse consequence on their EPL table dominance, and they are still poised to lead the season and lift the Premier League trophy.

Initially, taking an early lead from Mac Allister's delivery gave Liverpool an outlook of winning until Fulham gained repeated breaks into their 18-yard box. They could not help but concede from the flops that ensued from their tarky defense. The Reds' unbeaten run was snapped as a consequence.

Gravenberch played in Mac-Allister, and the Argentine player struck home a 20-yard shot, giving Liverpool the lead. Fulham regained level terms as Ryan Sessegnon received an erroneous pass from Liverpool's defender inside the box and rifled home the ball. Alex Iwobi seized a rowdy moment that followed his blocked shot, leading to a poor header landing in his path, and blasted home a left-footed shot from inside the box. Fulham took the lead.

Fulham's third resulted from Virgil van Dijk's error, giving away the ball to Rodrigo Miniz, who smashed a low-cut shot down the bottom left of the goal. The first half was disappointing for Liverpool, who could barely get a shot at the target.

The Reds' comeback move in the second proved futile, and they got a consolation for their effort when a lob from the left wing facilitated a break-in through the center. Conor Bradley played in Luiz Dias, who smashed home the ball from inside the box.

The victory restored Fulham to winning ways after they lost the London derby to Arsenal and their elimination from the FA Cup by Crystal Palace. The Berge remain unbeaten in three consecutive home games against a top-flight Premier League team - the last top-flight team they lost to was Manchester United in January.

Overview

Disastrous game for Liverpool, in the manner by which Fulham made a comeback from a goal deficit to take the lead. Liverpool's loose defense put them at a disadvantage against goal-seeking Fulham, which cost the Reds the first half.

Fulham maintained good composure, making accurate passes and a well-coordinated midfield, with Alex Iwobi making a prominent impact. The Nigerian attacking midfielder assisted with the third goal after he scored the second for Fulham. Liverpool were revamped in the second half, making troubling breaks into Fulham's box. Mo Salah kept a low profile throughout due to the coordinated defense of Fulham. However, he had a glaring chance from a lob that landed right for him in the box but struck wide.
