Snow White Remake Makes Box Office Impression
While Mickey 17 and Novocaine dropped behind in the box office chart, Captain America: Brave New World leaped to top the chart behind Disney's new film, Snow White.
Snow White, a Gal Gadot-led film with huge expectations but for having a domestic gross of $43 million, it has earned criticism rather than praise and is considered unimpressive for a start. Compared to other Disney live-action adaption films, the animation remake was considered below expectations.
Despite raking in $87.3 million from the global market, it fell short of Disney's previous remake The Little Mermaid remake with a domestic gross of $95.5 million in 2023. With a cost of production of about $270m, expectations will be high.
As for some critics, Rachel Zegler's political comments took a toll on the film's performance. Some believed her remark on the prince from the original animated classic was inappropriate for what portrays her as the heroine.
Captain America: Brace New World ranked in $4 million in the domestic market to bring its domestic cume to $182 million. Globally, it continues to push harder to meet its expected milestone and has crossed $400 million benchmark.
Brave New World was third in the chart behind Black Bag, which hauled in $4.2 million. Nevertheless, Brave New World is near its projected income of $440 million and has passed franchises like The Marvels, The Incredible Hulk, and The First Avenger.
