Snow White Maintains Box Office Top Spot Despite Sales Drop

Despite a handful of films debuting over the weekend, Rachel Zegler's long-standing film maintained its prominence in the box office chart. Even as Snow White shed more than 60% in ticket sales, it topped the weekend while Jason Statham's film, A Working Man, trailed the fantasy adventure remake.

With a second week domestic gross of $4.4 million, it took a 66% drop from its previous domestic gross of  $43 million. In the international market, it continues to make a solo stride, adding $22m from 51 countries, with the United Kingdom leading in the offshore markets. That brings its international cume to $73 million in the second week, and a global gross of $143 million.

Snow White maintained the number one spot in the United Kingdom with a second week gross cume of $8.7m. Still, Disney's 1937 animation remake struggles to live up to expectations following its budget of more than $200 million. Some critics blamed the film's performance on Zegler's political views and her take on the character of the Prince, who helped her character, the evil Queen, in the film.

Following Snow White was Jason Statham's A Working Man. With $4 million from the domestic market and $15M internationally, it was an impressive start for the newly released film. China led the offshore markets for Jason's film with $2.9m.

Other new releases such as The Chosen: Last Supper ($3M), The Woman in the Yard ($2.19M), and Death of a Unicorn ($1.4M) occupied the remaining top five positions in respective order.
