Novak Djokovic Reaches Miami Open Final With Grigor Dimitrov Defeat

Grigor Dimitrov did not stand a chance to eliminate Novak Djokovic and was beaten in straight sets, 6-2 6-3 in the Miami Open semifinal. The victory advanced Djokovic towards his quest for a seventh title in the Sunshine State, Florida.

Dimitrov was impressive from the start. He broke on the first game to take an early lead before Djokovic rallied and took the lead by a 4-2. At this point, the Serbian former champion had won two breaks to establish control. He sealed a set point with his third break as Dimitrov hit wide a forehand return,

"I probably feel as good as I have felt since the Olympics last year," Said Djokovic. "I thought I wouldn't beat the percentage of my first serve in from the last match, but I did it."

Since Djokovic had the first set in the bag, Dimitrov's struggles continued in the second set. Djokovic quickly took a 4-0 lead before he rallied back, but was stopped at 5-3 as Djokovic served to win a matchpoint to secure his eighth Miami Open final appearance.

On Sunday, he will meet Jakub Mensik to contend for his 100th ATP singles title in the final. Already, he is the all-time highest winner at the tournament with six titles, followed by Roger Federer with five titles.
