Novak Djokovic Edged Lorenzo Musetti To Reach Miami Open Quarterfinal

Novak Djokovic is gradually advancing to what might be his seventh Miami Open title quest, and he has been doing that incredibly well. He started off slow but consistent through the rounds to reach the quarterfinal with Lorenzo Musetti's defeat.

Musetti did not stand a chance against Djokovic and was neatly outperformed in straight sets, 6-2 6-2. Before Djokovic gained control of the first set at 2-2, he had a heated altercation with the referee over time dilation, but the controversy was soon resolved.

"This was the best match of the tournament for me so far," said Djokovic. "What I like is to see me as progress through the tournament, raising the level of tennis, and that's what's happening."

Though he was obviously frustrated by the intensity of Musetti's resilience in the early stages, he broke in the sixth game at 4-2, dominating the remaining games for a set win. He dictated the second set and claimed a match point as Musetti double-faulted.

Meanwhile, Musetti claimed an early break from Djokovic's double-faulting and extended lead to 2-0 in the first set. He later double-faulted multiple times in the fourth game, and Djokovic got on a rally to 2-2. Hence, the Serbian player dictated the rest of the match.
