Fulham Eliminate Manchester United From FA Cup In Fourth Round

 

Manchester United are out of the FA Cup in the fourth round following a loss to Fulham on penalties (4-3) after 1-1 through full-time and extra-time at Old Trafford. 

Fulham gave it their all to secure their place in the quarterfinal likewise United, who narrowly missed lofty moments through Alejandro Garnacho and Obi to set ahead in victory in the closing minutes. Fulham were also resilient forcing great save from Andre Onana. 

Calvin Bassey put Fulham in the closing minutes of the first half. Following a set piece, Muniz flicked an aerial ball from a corner into his path and he nodded the ball into the net. United restored level terms as Bruno Fernandez smashed home Dalot's cross from the left flank after Garnacho played him in. 

The game stayed a draw through the remaining minutes and the extra time. Victor Lindelof missed his penalty before Joshua Zirkzee missed his and United lost to Fulham on shootouts. 

United are the defending champions, having to be eliminated in the fourth round will be their earliest in the competition in 29 years. 

Overview 

Mazraoul showed great discipline in defending and assisting the attack on overlapping. De Ligt was also prominent in the defense. Fernandez scored the equalizer. alongside Eriksen, kept the midfield formidable for much of the first half even as the opposition repelled strongly, making the game difficult for the Red Devil until they got ahead. 

United's attack was fired up upon Garnacho's substitution. He nearly set United ahead in victory in injury time but onrushing Leno was to the save. Likewise, the youngster, Chido Obi-Martin was impressive. Adamu Traore was a pain for United until he was replaced over an injury. It was relieving for United but Fulham maintained composure as they stepped up the attack with Willian. Without a doubt, Fulham were the stronger sides. Regardless of how the game ended, either side deserved to win.
