Bayern Munich To Part Ways With Thomas Muller By End of Season
Bayern Munich and Thomas Muller are to part ways by the end of the season as talks over a contract extension stall. The discussion over the midfielder's future has not been finalised, but the club is reportedly not keen on keeping the player longer than this season.
Muller is a long-standing player who has spent all his professional career at the club. Since making his professional debut in 2008, he has neither joined another club on loan nor on transfer. Within the period, he has won all European and domestic titles in his career with Munich.
While he hopes to keep his contract running for another season, Bayern reportedly deemed letting him off as a way of saving money worth €17m/year - his annual net salary. However, negotiations with the player is reportedly still ongoing.
Amidst the situation, there are speculations that he is set to move to MLS, but there is no specific offer yet. Last summer, he was offered to join the Saudi Arabia Pro League but opted to stay at Munich.
