Alvaro Morata Reflects On Leaving Atletico Madrid

Alvaro Morata is having a difficult time reflecting on his transfer from Atletico Madrid last summer and admits he made a wrong decision to leave the club. Despite the successes he is having at his current club, Galatasaray, the Spanish forward believes he would have been better off in the La Liga with Atletico.

Galatasaray signed Morata on loan from AC Milan earlier this year, and things appear to be going good for him. He even scored in their last game against Antalyaspor, a 4-0 victory. However, underneath the surface, the player nurses issues bothering his mind.

Being a player who was highly valued at some point sin his career, Morata opened up in an interview with Cadena Ser radio on how his decision to leave Atletico impacted him. He acknowledges he was wrong to have left a club that wanted him though he can not change it,

"If I could go back in time, I would not leave Atletico Madrid," he said speaking to Cadena Ser Radio. "In the summer, I should have thought things through more, but now there's no point in changing it."

He continued: "This whole issue was bothering me during the Euro. I needed to feel valued and loved, and El Chalo Simeone really wanted me. My father and my agent told me that I was making a mistake."

Morata scored Galatasaray's second goal in their last game against Antalyaspor. On Thursday, he will join the Spanish national team in the UEFA Nations League game against the Netherlands.

He was signed to Milan for €13 million in July and was loaned to the Super Lig club, Galatasaray earlier this year. Meanwhile, he also told Cadena Ser, that he looks forward to Galatasaray winning the league for a Champions League appearance next season.
